EA SPORTS is one of the most iconic brands in entertainment – connecting hundreds of millions around the world to the sports they love through a portfolio of industry-leading video games.

EA’s Character Animation Research Team (known as the A-Team) is a small team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. We’re committed to advancing the field of Character Animation. Our vision of the future is one where video-games characters not only look believable, but move convincingly, as well. Our technology is shared across multiple games in EA including FC, Madden, NHL, Skate, Battlefront, Dragon Age and more. You are, like us, passionate about building amazing tools in a collaborative environment with a team of veteran developers.

We’re looking for a Software Engineer Co-op (A-Team) to join our world-class paid internship experience. You will report to the Technical Leads and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). We are considering onsite and hybrid working options. You may be eligible for course credit depending on your institution.

We have two paths available: WebApp Development & Animation Runtime Development. If you’re interested and feel you have the skills in one or both of these areas, please apply.

FOR WEBAPP DEVELOPMENT:

Responsibilities:

  • You will report to Technical Leads and SMEs to lead the development of web-based tools, new features and bug fixes.

  • Partner with UX designers to build engaging, intuitive web tools that empower artists and designers.

  • You will shape the future of web tools and workflows used in animation and gaming.

  • You will collaborate with multiple teams to find high-quality, modern solutions.

Qualifications:

  • You have a working knowledge of front-end web technology (JavaScript, typescript, web components, CSS, HTML - three.js would be a bonus).

  • Experience with backend technologies (.NET, PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, and in building and maintaining RESTful APIs).

  • You have experience in object-oriented design and implementation.

  • You have experience with UI and data management experience with server-side software .

FOR ANIMATION RUNTIME DEVELOPMENT:

Responsibilities:

  • Work on innovative self-directed projects to bring next-gen characters to life.

  • Advance research in Real Player Motion, EA’s industry leading Motion Matching solution.

  • Develop novel solutions in procedural animation systems such as footplanting, slope adjustment, stride retargeting, and motion graph based animation manipulation

  • Apply cutting edge motion synthesis techniques to dynamically generate continuous and fluid animation behaviors.

  • Leverage the latest advances in EA’s proprietary Frostbite game engine.

  • Collaborate with experts in Machine Learning and Digital Content Creation to integrate new features into the runtime environment.

  • Work directly with game teams to solve problems, improve animation fidelity and construct quick intuitive workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of C++ and C# (Python would be a bonus)

  • Solid knowledge of Linear Algebra, Calculus, and Physics

  • You have experience in object-oriented design and implementation.

  • You have experience with game development and/or simulation software.

RESUME INFORMATION:

  • You must be available for a full-time paid internship from May 11 - December 18, 2026.

  • You must be enrolled in an accredited program in a related field.

  • You must be returning to school for at least one semester following your work term with EA.

  • You must clearly indicate your expected graduation date in your resume to be considered.

  • Are you interested in games? Let us know!

  • Are you involved in any extra-curricular activities or clubs? We want to hear about them!

  • Submit an up-to-date CV and cover letter explaining why you would like to complete your internship with Electronic Arts, and what interests you in this specific role.

We are only considering students who can work in Canada, will be enrolled in an accredited degree program throughout this co-op, and slated to graduate May 2027 or later.
