Counsel, Privacy
12 Month Contract

This role can be Hybrid (3days onsite per week) from our Guildford or Stockholm offices

We are looking for a passionate, collaborative, and motivated privacy and compliance attorney to join our team. You will report to the Chief Privacy Officer

Role Summary

This team member will alongside a team of attorneys, legal professionals, and business partners to develop and execute a global privacy program. We support the game, studio, and central teams in multiple areas, from game development to deployment, marketing/ad-tech to marketplace/commerce tools, as well as the complex back-end services and databases, in-game social and communication tools, and evolving landscape around cross-play and cloud gaming. This Privacy Counsel will ensure that the privacy-by-design requirements developed by the Privacy Team are implemented throughout EA's products and solutions. You will help manage our compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Player First commitments, while applying leading practices to our most privacy program focus areas, including data privacy rights responses, data mapping, certifications, guidance assurance, testing, training, and awareness initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing legal support for a wide variety of privacy, advertising/marketing, ecommerce, and consumer protection matters

  • Partner with game teams, marketing, and adtech colleagues on multi-disciplinary issues

  • Evaluate advanced media and technology:

  • Review consumer advertising across all channels for compliance with applicable laws

  • Advise teams regarding digital promotional initiatives, including email, SMS, and social media influencer marketing

  • Draft and update game development playbooks and guidelines regarding privacy, advertising/marketing, ecommerce, and consumer protection issues based on applicable laws, rules, and regulatory guidance

  • Work with engineering teams and IT security teams to ensure privacy by design is embedded in our products and solutions. 

  • Experience with how companies should protect someone’s data in their systems

  • Provide guidance on privacy regulatory compliance such as GDPR data privacy impact assessments and data mapping

 

Required skills and experience:

  • 5-7 years PQE with experience in technology, preferably gaming

  • Ability to work with cross-functional business and legal teams

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to establish strong working relationships with business partners

  • Ability to handle a high volume of work with minimal supervision with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently and effectively
