About the Team
The Ventures Innovation team at Electronic Arts is dedicated to exploring new opportunities beyond the bounds of traditional gaming, specifically new opportunities across the evolving industry and inspiring forms of sports entertainment.
As part of the Experiences organization, we are a team of innovators, strategists, creatives, engineers, and statisticians. Together, we incubate inspiring products, features, and capabilities that sit outside the core gaming experiences of EA, breaking new ground in interactive experiences and sports entertainment. You will be based in Redwood Shores, CA or Austin, TX and report to the VP of Experience Design & Innovation.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Sports Statistician to join our Innovation team, focusing on developing inspiring ways to present sports statistics and predictions to fans.
You will work with strategists, concept incubators, cross-functional engineering teams, ML/AI engineers, and product teams. You will bring expertise in predictive sports analytics, real-time data visualization, and have knowledge of fan engagement trends. While you will span all sports, an understanding of global football (soccer) is advantageous. Additionally, collaboration with external data providers will be critical to success.
Responsibilities
• Data Innovation: Develop compelling and creative ways for presenting sports statistics, using predictive analytics and real-time data.
• Collaborative Development: Work with strategists and innovation teams to align statistical insights with broader concepts, product goals and UX/UI.
• Integration with Engineering: Partner with engineering and ML/AI teams to build scalable models for real-time data delivery and visualization.
• Data Provider Collaboration: Collaborate with external data providers to ensure access to high-quality, comprehensive datasets across multiple sports.
• Insights and Reporting: Analyze historical and real-time sports data to uncover insights that inform new features, capabilities, or products within new EA SPORTS digital experiences.
Experience
• 7+ years of experience in sports analytics, with a focus on sports statistics, including both historical and real-time data analysis and predictive modeling.
• Expertise working with sports organizations, media outlets, sports data providers, or sports-oriented social networks.
• Background in statistical analysis and developing predictive models based on historical trends and real-time performance data.
• An ability to collaborate on building consumer-facing experiences, such as fan engagement tools, real-time dashboards, or interactive visualizations.
Technical Skills
• Statistical and Machine Learning Expertise: Strong skills in statistical modeling (e.g., random forest, XGBoost, logistic regression) and AI/ML techniques, including predictive analytics and time series analysis.
• Data Visualization: Proficiency in advanced visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Plotly, and D3.js) to create compelling visual representations of sports data.
• Data Engineering: Experience working with complex datasets, APIs, and real-time data streams, and ETL processes.
• Sports Analytics Focus: Expertise in sports-specific metrics, player performance evaluation, and innovative approaches to presenting sports statistics.
