The Technical Interface Designer (TID) bridges the gap between artists and software engineers by combining artistic skills and experience with programming and scripting. The TID is part of the art team and works closely with artists, project managers, programmers and other technical designers.
Your Responsibilities
- Recreation of authentic broadcast overlays and in game overlays to match styles
- Learn and drive art asset conversion from legacy to new format
- Maintain best practices in code and art development
- UI animations and effects creation using proprietary game engine
- Apply proper art optimization techniques in art assets
- Quickly identify and debug art and animation related issues
- Motion demo design and creation for game front end and HUD and integration in game
- Collaborate with engineering and art, explaining both the art team needs and the tech constraints
- Document tools and workflows on the internal Wiki
- High fidelity rapid prototyping for UX evaluation
- Learn and support animations and UI work with legacy tech (Flash-based animations via ActionScript and timeline)
Your Qualifications
- Technical skills, and ability to quickly learn new proprietary production tools and workflow
- Adept or be able to quickly learn various Object Oriented programming languages and scripts (e.g. Javascripts, C#)
- Familiar with scripting languages like Python
- Proficient with Adobe Photoshop and other graphics and animation applications
- 1+ years of experience creating 3D motion graphics, or interfaces with game engines such as Unreal or Unity
- Visual animation and programming
Other Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Understanding of user experience principles
- Understanding of revision version control software. Knowledge of Perforce is ideal
- Degree in a relevant visual art or technical subject highly desired (e.g. BSc Computer Science or Game Programming , Game Art and Design Diploma)
Ceci ne s’applique pas au Québec. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
- $73,200 - $101,700 CAD
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
