The Challenge Ahead

The Dynamic Experiences team is building solutions to empower Live Content Personalization at EA with flexible lifecycle management workflows and performant, scalable, and available services. 

As a Technical Director, you will oversee the backend / runtime system that powers EA's live services and player lifecycle management. You will be a domain expert and engineering architect, drive strategic vision and technical direction, and bring the latest industry experience to the team. 

You will report to the Technical Director II.

 

Responsibilities:.

  • You will lead the architecture and development of core personalization services, including content management, multi-channel delivery, segmentation, tracking, and reporting.
  • You will partner with cross-functional teams in Content Management & Delivery, Messaging, Segmentation, Recommendations, and Experimentation to personalize player experiences at scale.
  • You will work with stakeholders-- including Game Studios, Marketing, and Brand teams --to understand their use cases, translate them into data requirements, and ensure end-to-end data availability for Live Services.
  • You will leverage massive data sets from 20+ game studios and promote a data-driven decision-making process and experimentation culture. 
  • You will manage a team of 8 backend / runtime software engineers. 

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering
  • 3+ years in a technical leadership role
  • Expertise in large-scale distributed systems and microservices architecture
  • Experience with real-time and batch data processing, including Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Flink, or similar technologies
  • Deep domain knowledge and hands-on experience of high-throughput and low-latency live services, personalization, data pipelines, and analytics
  • Experience managing high-traffic, 24/7 services with complex dependencies
  • Experience in multi-cloud architectures and large-scale data processing systems
  • Programming skills and expertise in software design, algorithms, and data structures

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGES

  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento)
    • $161,100 - $239,700 USD

In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
