Description & Requirements
Electronic Arts Ventures Group
The future of entertainment is interactive, and our Ventures Group plays an important role in this future by building content, culture, and community that take us Beyond Gaming. We empower audiences to Play, Create, Watch, and Connect across our amazing franchises and experiences, including The Sims, Madden NFL, EA SPORTS FC, Apex Legends, and Battlefield. We’re a multi-functional group, with world-class expertise in building fandom, driving interactive storytelling, and positioning our franchises at the center of the broader entertainment ecosystem.
What We’re Building
We’re inventing a mobile-first playground that feels part stage, part toy, part game—a space for self-expression powered by real-time interaction, motion, and AI. It’s not about passive consumption—it’s about play, performance, and creative connection.
As our first iOS Design Engineer, you’ll bring the product to life on-device: crafting the interactions, motion, and visual polish that make people feel something the instant they tap the screen.
What You’ll Do
Translate sketches and Figma mocks into SwiftUI components and real-time prototypes that feel magical.
Engineer rich motion and tactile interactions using Rive, Lottie, and Metal shaders.
Own the product’s interactive personality on iOS—visual language, motion grammar, haptics, and micro-animations.
Partner with Design to push creative concepts forward, and with iOS Engineers to ship performant, production-ready code.
Build and maintain a reusable interaction/motion framework and component library for the team.
Explore cutting-edge generative-AI capabilities and prototype new creative tools directly on device.
Contribute to crits, design reviews, and our evolving design culture; be a go-to resource for interaction craft.
What You Bring
3+ years building and shipping consumer-grade iOS experiences, including at least 1 year with SwiftUI.
Fluency in motion design and storytelling (Rive, After Effects, Lottie, or equivalent).
A strong eye for visual and interaction detail—you notice (and fix) the one-frame stutter.
Comfort working in ambiguous 0 → 1 spaces; bias toward rapid prototyping and iterative learning.
Curiosity about generative AI and a knack for turning raw tech into delightful user moments.
Nice to have: Hands-on experience with Metal or similar GPU shader pipelines (bonus for custom shader work).
Application must include a portfolio or collection of work samples. We're especially interested in:
- Interactive prototypes or shipped apps showing your blend of design craft and engineering execution
- Motion/interaction studies (videos, animations, or code repos) that highlight your attention to detail
- Links to GitHub repos, TestFlight builds, or short demo reels
