As a Development Director you will play a key leadership role on the Game Developer Experience Engineering team. You will help to lead the delivery of enterprise-wide Application Lifecycle Management solutions that support EA's game and central services teams. You will collaborate with cross-functional development leaders to plan and execute complex, Agile-driven initiatives, combining hands-on engagement with strategic oversight. You will drive outcomes, including meeting quality and milestone targets, improving processes, resolving issues, and continuously enhancing EA's game development ecosystem.

The Development Director will report to the Senior Development Director.

Location: Vancouver, hybrid three days a week onsite the studio.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog refinement) and enhance Agile development practices within the team.

  • Oversee team deliveries, including managing risks, dependencies, and critical paths.

  • Coordinate tasks across diverse internal and external teams, spanning multiple locations, time zones, and cultures.

  • Improve operational effectiveness of team effort by assessing current practices, incorporating new strategies, and increasing predictability.

  • Work with the Product Management team to lock down requirements and specifications.

  • Initiate or implement development process improvements to achieve efficiencies and to act as a change agent for process improvements.

  • Effectivity monitor and adjust capacity plans.

  • Effectively report progress and status through email or face to face with leads/managers.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience leading projects or programs in a software development environment

  • Experience working in Agile and/or Scrum delivery models

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders

  • Experience leading teams through complex or undefined problems, aligning partners, and delivering practical solutions.

  • Solid understanding of software development operations and delivery lifecycles

  • Experience planning, implementing, and driving change using structured change management practices

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • Experience using Jira or similar work management tools (preferred)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$119,600 - $167,300 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
