This technical role in the Game Developer Experience team reports to a Technical Director. It involves envisioning, designing, and building enterprise-grade development pipelines for EA's video games and central services teams. You'll create pipelines integrating custom, off-the-shelf, and packaged applications, and work with EA-built products as well as commercially available products like SonarQube, Perforce, and GitLab. We integrate security best practices into pipelines and deployments to safeguard EA's assets and data. Our cloud-first approach uses Azure and AWS, and you'll work with agile teams supporting thousands of users across game teams like FC, Madden, Battlefield, Respawn and central teams like Frostbite and Origin. You will be tasked with designing pipelines and infrastructure that scale efficiently to support the needs of our game teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure our automation tests all changes to EA’s game build infrastructure before they impact our game teams

  • Implement new features and self service capabilities to allow our users to use our services quickly and securely

  • Automate and scale our service deployments and workflow automation

  • Create monitoring, alerting and dashboarding solutions that improve the visibility into our services' performance and business metrics.

  • Ensure that our services are available and able to recover from a disaster with limited to no impact on our users

  • Leverage DevOps tools and best practices to manage applications and infrastructure services in Kubernetes

  • Participate in a production support rotation, typically once every 3–5 weeks, to help ensure smooth operations

Who you are

You are a DevOps Engineer with 5 years of experience building production-level enterprise solutions serving internal teams of software developers. You enjoy automating away repetitive tasks to reduce toil.

  • An engineer that enjoys digging into code and configuration details to debug complex, multi-system failures and comprehend how things work with an eye for standardization and simplification.

  • An engineer with strong proficiency in: Terraform module development and environment deployment, Packer, Ansible, Kubernetes

  • Adept at writing testable code in Python, PowerShell or similar scripting languages

  • Working knowledge of  CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins and Azure DevOps

  • Experienced in building SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS cloud solutions leveraging AWS or Azure.

  • Passionate about measuring service reliability, availability and performance, and know your way around tools like Grafana, the ELK stack and Prometheus

  • A lifelong learner who stays up-to-date with emerging technologies and DevOps practices.

  • Experienced in remote work, keen to spread information and document decisions to keep everyone in the loop.

  • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, Kubernetes, or DevOps practices are a plus.
