Description & Requirements

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

We are seeking a Head of Software Quality to define and lead the strategy for software quality across Apex Legends. This is a critical leadership role responsible for transforming how quality is built, measured, and delivered across a fast-paced, live service development environment.

You will lead the evolution of quality from a validation function into a proactive, technology-enabled discipline, fully integrated into development and live operations. Partnering closely with Quality Engineering (QE), development, and central EA teams, you will ensure that quality is engineered into the product, enabling rapid iteration without compromising player experience.

You will report to the Head of Apex QV and be a key member of the Apex quality leadership team.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Transformation

  • Define and execute the Software Quality vision and roadmap for Apex Legends, aligned with franchise and EA-wide goals.
  • Drive shift-left quality practices, embedding quality throughout development, from early design through live service delivery.
  • Lead the integration of Quality Engineering (QE) technologies and automation frameworks into QV workflows to improve scale, coverage, and speed.
  • Establish a data-driven quality model, leveraging telemetry, predictive signals, and automation to anticipate risks and improve outcomes in a live environment.

Execution & Live Operations

  • Own the execution of software quality initiatives across Apex Legends, aligned to seasonal releases, live updates, and rapid patch cycles.
  • Build and scale automation-first strategies across functional, performance, and reliability testing for a live service ecosystem.
  • Define and operationalize quality KPIs and health metrics, connecting development activity to real player experience.
  • Drive continuous improvement in defect management, risk assessment and release readiness, balancing speed with stability.

Leadership & Organization

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing organization spanning Quality Verification and Software Quality disciplines.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Partner with QE, development, and central teams to align on tools, standards, and best practices.
  • Lead across a globally distributed organization, ensuring alignment and effectiveness at scale.

Partnership & Influence

  • Act as a strategic partner to Apex development leadership, ensuring quality is a core pillar of execution and live service success.
  • Collaborate with central EA teams to leverage shared technology, AI, and automation capabilities.
  • Advocate for player-centric quality by connecting internal metrics to player experience, retention, and engagement outcomes.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in software quality, quality engineering, or software development, with progressive leadership responsibility.
  • Proven track record leading large, multidisciplinary QA/QE teams in high-scale, live or continuously delivered environments.
  • Strong technical background in test automation, CI/CD, performance engineering, and modern development practices.
  • Experience driving quality transformation initiatives, including shift-left strategies and automation at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and operationalize KPIs and quality metrics tied to product and player outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in live service games or large-scale online platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven testing or automation systems.
  • Experience building or integrating shared quality platforms or tooling ecosystems.
