The Data & Insights group provides central services that help game teams to tap into the power of the global EA ecosystem. Compatible across multiple platforms and devices, our group empowers teams to foster deeper, more meaningful relationships with our players. The Data & Insights group is the foundation on which EA's games are built. By providing reusable capabilities that game teams can easily integrate into their games, we allow them to focus on making incredible games.

The Challenge Ahead

As a Software Engineer Intern on the Recommendation Systems team, you will help design, prototype, and evaluate state-of-the-art AI models that power EA’s live personalization and recommendation experiences. You will work with large-scale player data, cutting-edge LLM architectures, and advanced training platforms to deliver real improvements to our recommendation services that impact millions of players worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Access and analyze large-scale transaction and gameplay data to generate insights and inform model design.

  • Research, prototype, and train modern recommendation models, including those leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs).

  • Develop and maintain automated data pipelines to support large-scale training.

  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers to evaluate model performance against benchmarks such as accuracy, efficiency, and player experience.

  • Contribute to the deployment and monitoring of models within EA’s production recommendation platform.

  • Participate in team meetings, provide updates on project progress, and incorporate feedback into deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field with graduation date December 2026 or later.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

  • Familiarity with recommendation systems, natural language processing, or large-scale data analytics.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Ray) and high-performance computing environments.

  • Exposure to large language model training, fine-tuning, and evaluation.

  • Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL database systems and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Prior experience with real-time data pipelines, experimentation platforms, or recommendation services.

  • Passion for gaming and interest in applying AI to improve player engagement and live service personalization.

You must be available for a full-time paid internship in the summer of 2026.

At this time, we are considering Masters students who will be enrolled in an accredited degree program in the summer of 2026, slated to graduate no earlier than December 2026. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis during the 12-week internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS


The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.


EA has listed the pay ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, degree type (e.g. Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD), what stage you are in your degree journey (i.e. freshman, sophomore, etc.), qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.


HOURLY PAY RANGES


• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):

º $32 - $53 USD Hourly









The pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including 80 hours per year of sick time (prorated based on scheduled hours per week if less than full-time), 16 paid company holidays per year, medical insurance, and 401(k). Interns in California are also eligible for Voluntary Disability Insurance.
