The Role: The Technical Artist for Career Mode, you will create UI content for EA Sports FC game, partnering with game designers, programmers, and artists to develop features in the game using the Frostbite engine, along with working on new features every year.
You will report to the Development Director and work with your Technical Lead to estimate, build, and improve projects. Together with a talented team of +20 engineers, you will work on the technology and pipelines that form the foundation of our game features. You will serve as a key link between art and engineering, ensuring that creative vision is executed with technical excellence. You will contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of tools, pipelines, and UI/UX systems that enhance both the player experience and developer workflows. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, artistic sensibility, and problem-solving ability, supporting both feature development and long-term scalability of game systems.
Responsibilities:
Feature Delivery: Structure, plan, and implement UI/UX features that meet gameplay goals, accessibility standards, and technical requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineers, scripters, UX designers, and UI artists to deliver complex UI elements, including 2D/3D layouts, menu flows, HUDs, AR features, and in-game animations.
Tool & Pipeline Development: Build and maintain tools, scripts, and workflows that streamline UI/UX implementation and empower artists/designers to iterate efficiently.
Technical Implementation: Use visual programming and scripting languages to develop robust UI logic, data flows, and feature integrations.
Quality & Iteration: Improve implementations based on stakeholder feedback, design goals, and creative direction, polishing features to meet AAA quality standards.
Optimization: Ensure UI/UX features and pipelines are efficient, scalable, and maintainable throughout the full production cycle.
Communication & Reporting: Share progress with technical directors and project managers and provide clear documentation for systems and workflows.
Team Mindset: Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and problem-solving team culture that bridges creative and technical disciplines.
Qualifications:
Professional Experience: 3+ years in professional game development with a focus on UI/UX systems, pipelines, or technical art.
UI Development Skills: Experience implementing UI screens, widgets, data flows, and logic within modern game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal).
Prototyping Ability: Experience in rapid prototyping to test feasibility and bring ideas from concept to execution independently.
Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of working effectively across disciplines, teams, and partners to achieve shared goals.
Nice to have:
Game Engine Expertise: Experience with multiple engines or frameworks (Unity UI, Unreal UMG, ImGui, WPF, Qt).
Rendering & Graphics Pipelines: Understanding of rendering pipelines, frame-rate efficiency, draw calls, batching, and GPU/CPU performance trade-offs.
Version Control & Collaboration: Hands-on experience with Perforce, Git, or similar source control in large-scale team environments.
Cross-Platform Development: Knowledge of adapting UI systems for PC, console, and mobile platforms.
UX Sensibility: Background in user experience design, accessibility standards, or usability testing.
Creative Tech Background: Exposure to motion graphics, AR/VR interfaces, or procedural content generation.
Experience working within an agile team.
Experience working with Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo game consoles.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.
