EA SPORTS is one of the most iconic brands in sports & entertainment with nearly 30 years of innovation, passion, and connection of millions of players across the globe to their favourite sports, teams, and athletes. This is your opportunity to join this new team to shape the future of interactive entertainment and create the next great EA SPORTS game.

The Advanced Technology Group is part of the EA SPORTS Tech organization, focused on developing the latest game features and engine enhancements in close collaboration with game and engine dev teams. You will be part of a team tackling a variety of technical challenges beginning from proof of concept to implementation for titles across EA. An essential priority for this group is to partner with the Frostbite team, our Game teams, and our central art team to create meaningful user facing experiences and content workflow improvements. You will work on strategic, multi-year projects focused on our character technology for all EA SPORTS titles.

This team works 3 days/week onsite in our Burnaby studio. This is a 12-month contract to begin with and has the possibility of longer term employment.

The Role

Reporting to the Lead Development Director, a Development Director manages a variety of disciplines including artists, designers, and software engineers. DD's are the keepers of the project schedule and play an important role in successfully moving the development team from one project phase to the next while ensuring a focus on quality, collaboration and communication. You will partner with producers to ensure projects are managed on time, to quality, and within budget.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning and execution by defining scope, establishing realistic schedules, and maintaining clear priorities across multiple disciplines. Ensure project plans reflect quality targets, dependencies, risks, and resource requirements.

  • Manage and develop high‑performing teams by providing clear goals, coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities. Apply situational leadership to support career development and ensure team engagement and health.

  • Oversee day‑to‑day project execution, monitoring progress, removing roadblocks, and driving alignment across internal teams and external development partners.

  • Manage partner relationships (outsourcing, co-dev, centralized teams) by defining expectations, maintaining communication plans, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities, and monitoring delivery against agreed‑upon milestones.

  • Identify and mitigate risks across schedule, quality, scope, and resourcing in close partnership with discipline leads (e.g., Technical Lead, Art Lead, Producer). Proactively escalate critical risks and collaborate with these partners to develop and execute mitigation and contingency plans.

  • Drive process adoption and continuous improvement by applying standard industry and EA methodologies, identifying gaps, and contributing to improvements in workflow, collaboration, and quality.

  • Contribute to hiring and talent planning by identifying staffing needs, participating in interviews, and supporting onboarding to ensure team readiness and long‑term capability.

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of project management or production leadership experience, including 4+ years managing people and/or teams in a collaborative development environment.

  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑disciplinary projects using established methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, resolving conflicts, developing talent, and fostering a healthy, motivated work environment.

  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, capable of partnering effectively across teams, disciplines, and external development groups.

  • Experience with project scheduling, capacity planning, and risk management.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
