The EA Create Capture team partners with development teams to provide motion and performance capture, 3D body and facial scanning, data processing, and virtual cinematography tools. We are looking for a Data Wrangler to join our team of experts at our Burnaby or Montreal studio.
This is a temporary contract position operating in a hybrid model, with at least three days per week in the office.
Role overview:
Data Wranglers are central to the Create Capture team, managing captured data flow through production pipelines and supporting coordination and information exchange between partners. They track shoots from pre-production through delivery and into post-production to maintain continuity across each stage.
Responsibilities:
You will report to the Data Wrangler Technician and collaborate with, and support, the Create Craft, Production, Acquisition, Animation, Blendshapes, and Tech Art teams.
You will validate and manage production data (ie. shot, talent and prop lists) to ensure accuracy and quality within databases.
You will prepare pre-shoot technical setups and support production activities across motion capture, scanning, and technical development.
You will oversee data workflows across the pipeline, including motion capture and scanning processes, and be an important resource for session setup and data transfer into post-production.
You will be the first contact for pipeline issues, troubleshooting failures and initiating mitigation plans or escalating where required.
You will support game development and animation teams in post-production, including coordination with partner teams.
You will manage data flow workflow and pipeline documentation, and help onboard new team members.
Qualifications:
You have demonstrated technical skills and a commitment to learning and improving pipeline processes and workflows.
You have knowledge of Monday.com to manage tasks and scheduling.
You have at least one year using ShotGrid to manage assets and workflows.
You are comfortable using proprietary tools.
You understand the purpose and effect of custom toolsets within the pipeline, and how they support end-to-end production workflows.
You maintain current knowledge of industry-standard file formats and best practices.
You have a working knowledge of technical dependencies across 3D scanning, motion capture, performance capture, and virtual cinematography.
You have coordinated schedules and dependencies to support smooth data flow through each stage of the pipeline.
You have used judgement to identify potential risks, and support resolution within the pipeline.
You have worked in a production environment with tight turnaround timelines and high asset volume, collaborating across teams.
You have managed large volumes of data and ensured accuracy and consistency.
Desirable experience:
You understand scriptwriting in Python.
You have knowledge of Maya, Adobe Bridge CC or Reality Capture.
You have worked as a Data Wrangler or On-set Digital Imaging Technician within VFX, film & TV Post-production coordination.
