The EA SPORTS Security team helps make the games safe, secure, and fun by developing in-game security features, analyzing data, and responding to Security incidents. As a Software Engineer, you will develop and implement solutions applicable to the portfolio of EA SPORTS titles to prevent instances of cheating, botting, and tampering. You will partner with game developers, data scientists, fraud analysts, and other software engineers to address some of the most interesting game security challenges out there. You will report to a lead within the Security organisation.
Your Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and ship security features across client applications and game servers.
Maintain and improve legacy codebases, focusing on stability, performance, and long-term health.
Refactor, modernize, and port existing systems to improve efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
Perform technical security assessments, code audits, and design reviews to ensure strong security foundations.
Translate partner requirements and design constraints into thoughtful, scalable, and secure technical solutions.
Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external partners to deliver high-quality, secure outcomes.
Your Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of industry experience using C++ and/or Java as a primary language, with strong low-level programming knowledge.
Hands-on experience maintaining and evolving legacy systems in production environments.
A solid track record of building scalable software using proven engineering best practices.
Pluses:
Experience in security-focused development, especially protecting game integrity.
Expertise building internal tools to detect and counter bots, cheating, and tampering.
Familiarity with online games featuring virtual economies and the security challenges they introduce.
Experience shipping or supporting game development projects.
Working knowledge of security best practices and exposure to enterprise security environments.
