Cinematic Animator
As a Cinematic Animator, you will partner with a team of creative artists to help create and push the boundaries of quality for the visual storytelling in our games. You will have responsibility for animation of characters, vehicles, and cameras for production and pre-visualization, to achieve the final creative vision as set forward by your Director. A background in AAA game cinematics or film/TV VFX is ideal, but hands-on experience with a real-time game engine is preferred.
Join us to enhance visual storytelling for Battlefield. You'll work with a team of creative and technical experts to push the boundaries of Cinematics and SP/PVE experiences for our franchise. You will report to the Sr Director, Cinematics.
Responsibilities:
- You will work with both Motion-Captured data as well as key-frame animation
- You will need to feel as comfortable with character animation as you do with vehicles and camera animation.
- You will help plan and execute motion capture shoots
- Work on prototypes that proves how we will improve both visual quality and production efficiency.
- Help evaluate our workflows and present suggestions on how to improve our pipeline
- Take an active part in elevating our cinematic storytelling. Both through Cinematics and gameplay experiences.
- Push the boundaries of visual storytelling through your experience with storytelling and visual excellence.
Requirements:
- An eye for composition and cinematography
- An artist with a track-record of delivering multiple successful projects.
- 5+ years of experience creating world class animation or cinematic shots, on time and on brief.
- 5+ years of experience of a similar role within a commercial environment.
- Experience with animation for games, cg, or for live action, either in-engine or 3D-package (i.e. UE4, Unity, Frostbite, Maya, MotionBuilder, 3DS, etc.).
- Knowledge of cinematic language and camera direction.
- Experience with taking a shot from previs, through to final result.
- Experience with storytelling and an understanding of post-production pipelines.
- Knowledge in using 3d packages with a preferred focus on Maya and MotionBuilder.
- Experience working with character & camera motion capture data.
- Knowledge of modern virtual cinematography techniques and workflows.
- Experience with preparing and planning for mocap shoots
- Have technical skills and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Set clear priorities to complete work tasks. Being able to use wide brush strokes to prove out a concept before spending time on the details.
- Work to designated deadlines & communicates progress when necessary.
- Excited about learning new workflows and adding insight into the production processes.
