Our Motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero.

Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™. Currently, we're working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man™ action-adventure game and what's coming next for Battlefield™.

We believe in sharing our passion with our community and each other, fostering an inclusive culture, and nurturing a growth mindset. Although our approach may seem simple, it leads us to create the best work of our careers, bringing unique and immersive experiences to our players.

Motive is looking for an AI  Game Designer to join our team working on a new Battlefield project. You will collaborate with gameplay leadership to create enemy AI and design mechanics for the multiplayer part of the game. You'll be joining a multi-disciplinary AI team and working closely with other Gameplay Designers to craft a unique multiplayer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Take direction from design leadership and drive the design of enemy archetypes and related game systems to create and support engaging game experiences
  • Work with other designers to ensure the enemies contribute to the combat experience and support the overall game loop
  • Oversee, coordinate, and review AI work on features
  • Communicate the design to the team through multiple channels, including written design documents
  • Create and guide prototypes that answer important questions about a design
  • Implement new features and content and develop them to completion, using our in-house engine and visual scripting
  • Collaborate across disciplines, including art, animation, programming, and level design, to develop features and ensure a top-tier player experience
  • Review the game against the design goals and identify issues and opportunities to improve the player experience
  • Receive and incorporate feedback from multiple sources to improve features
  • Collect and use qualitative data (playtest, usability, and customer feedback) and quantitative data (telemetry and analytics) to inform designs

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of design experience developing video games
  • Knowledge of recent multiplayer shooter games, trends in the market, and the ability to apply insights from them
  • Design credits on at least one title where being responsible for the design of enemy AI or combat systems
  • Experience working hands-on with a game engine to implement designs
