Our Motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™.

Currently, we're working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man™ action-adventure game and what's coming next for Battlefield™.

We believe in sharing our passion with our community and each other, fostering an inclusive culture, and nurturing a growth mindset. Although our approach may seem simple, it leads us to create the best work of our careers, bringing unique and immersive experiences to our players.

Motive is looking for a Lead Gameplay Animator to work on the Battlefield Franchise.

Responsibilities:

As a Lead Gameplay Animator, you will work with the Animation Director and the animation team to set the animation quality standards for the team. You will also be involved in developing gameplay features in collaboration with designers, technical animators and programmers.

  • Lead the daily efforts for a group of animators including setting direction and tasks.
  • Collaborate with the production team to maintain the schedule and priorities of the team.
  • Work with technical animators to establish our character rig needs, and push our tools and workflows to the next level.
  • Promote communication and collaboration with peers across varying disciplines.
  • Mentor, guide, grow and lead animators, providing examples and arranging training as necessary.
  • Provide guidance to other team members to work through technical and creative solutions.
  • The ability to write documentation where required and maintain production requirements such as stand-ups, feedback and communication with peers.
  • Experience working with an Art Director to develop direction and quality goals and parsing that information to a team for precise execution.
  • Have experience with cross discipline collaboration as a core tenant of who you are as a leader.
  • Establish best practices and procedures for Animation.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years game animation experience.
  • Proficient in all relevant software such as Maya and Motion Builder.
  • Experience leading the daily efforts for a group of animators.
  • Credited on at least one AAA title where you had ownership of parts of Player or AI animation content, including in-game implementation.
  • Experience in at least one game engine, with knowledge of how to work with multiple animation systems (e.g. state machines or graphs, locomotion systems, etc.)
  • Apt at communicating the vision to the team and providing timely, constructive feedback on their work.
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and effective time-management skills.
  • Experience working with teams across multiple time zones including external development teams.
  • Passion for making and playing games.
