Associate Quality Designer
SONAR - Galway - Hybrid (on site 3 days a week)

The Associate Quality Designer (AQD) will join us on the SONAR team in a hybrid setting.

SONAR is a centralized organisation in EA focused on Production services. Our mission is to Safeguard the Player experience by delivering support across Live QV, Advertisement Technologies, and Retail Automation.

As an AQD, you will be an important part of our development process and meaningfully contribute to the quality of our games. You will demonstrate sound technical platform and game knowledge, have a strong quality mindset and effective partner management. The AQD will also be accountable for planning and managing test coverage on client and server releases, reporting on results, and confirming the success of a release.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish custom Live strategies on your project.

  • Work with product owners to identify risks and plan testing for live releases.

  • Build partnerships across geographically distributed teams.

  • Design test plans, including scheduling, reporting, and execution.

  • Analyze and investigate reported bugs and issues.

  • Attend initial and regular partner meetings to discuss strategy, challenges, and results.

  • Use player information proximity, studio partnerships, tools, and data to understand player sentiment and investigate and assess player facing issues

  • Perform identification, escalation, and elimination of central issues.

  • Aim to reduce manual test hours by using automation, supported by data and tools, to guide risk-based testing efforts.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for quality.

  • Previous games or software development QA experience (2+ years).

  • Knowledge of gaming consoles and their systems.

  • Determination to achieve quality in an environment with conflicting priorities and shifting requirements.

  • You are proactive, curious, and flexible.

  • Experience with applications such as JIRA, Confluence, TestRail.

  • Understanding of test automation, telemetry, or data analysis.

Bonus Skills: 

  • Experience with AI tools

  • Experience with developing scripts and tools to support your work

  • Experience analysing large text based datasets to understand player behaviours, trends and identify recommendations to improve player experience
