Millions of players use the EA app and EA Play every day to discover, buy, and play their favorite games. Our team builds the backend systems that power those experiences — from subscriptions and commerce to cross-platform services used across EA studios.
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer who enjoys building reliable, scalable APIs for high-traffic live services. If you like solving performance challenges, working with distributed systems, and shipping features that impact millions of players, we’d love to talk.
You’ll join a collaborative team in Vancouver (hybrid) and report to the Associate Technical Director.

What You’ll Work On

  • Improve performance, reliability, and observability of high-traffic live services
  • Debug and resolve real-time production issues in a distributed cloud environment
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver features end-to-end
  • Contribute to system design discussions and technical decisions
  • Help improve CI/CD pipelines, automation, and engineering best practices
  • Use data and metrics to evaluate feature impact and guide improvements

What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of backend development experience in production environments
  • Experience building and maintaining APIs (REST and/or GraphQL)
  • Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript
  • Experience working with cloud environments (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL or NoSQL)
  • Comfortable working on live services, including on-call rotations
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab)

Nice to Have
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with event-driven or distributed systems
  • Experience with Java
  • Experience working with CMS platforms (e.g., Contentful)
  • Background in subscription, e-commerce, or high-scale consumer systems

Why You’ll Love This Role
  • Your work directly impacts millions of global players
  • Work on highly scalable systems in a real-time live service environment
