Reporting to the Lead Cinematics Designer, we are seeking a Cinematics Designer to help create industry-leading real-time cinematics and presentation experiences for EA SPORTS FC. A Cinematics Designer is a filmmaker working in real time. They understand the language of film, storytelling, animation, acting, and cinematography, and combine those creative disciplines with the technical expertise required to build compelling interactive experiences inside a game engine.

As a Cinematics Designer, you will own the implementation of real-time cinematic features from concept through final polish. Working closely with Animation, Design, Art, Audio, Technical Art, Engineering, and Production, you will assemble animation, cameras, characters, environments, lighting, visual effects, gameplay systems, and audio into immersive experiences that deliver authenticity, excitement, and emotional impact. This team works in a hybrid model from our Bucharest studio, with three days per week onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Own the implementation of real-time cinematic sequences and presentation experiences from concept through final polish.
  • Assemble and integrate animation, cameras, environments, lighting, visual effects, gameplay systems, and audio into compelling player experiences.
  • Create cinematic language through strong camera work, composition, pacing, staging, and visual storytelling.
  • Implement gameplay and cinematic schematics using visual scripting and runtime systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Animation, Design, Engineering, Technical Art, Audio, and Production to deliver high-quality interactive experiences.
  • Work with Motion Capture, Animation, and Cinematics teams to ensure performances are faithfully translated into the game.
  • Debug animation, camera, sequencing, and implementation issues while developing creative technical solutions.
  • Contribute to improvements in cinematic pipelines, implementation workflows, documentation, and development tools.
  • Help establish artistic and technical best practices across the Cinematics team.
  • Contribute ideas that improve immersion, authenticity, presentation quality, and the overall player experience.


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience creating cinematics, animation, gameplay presentation, or scripted interactive experiences.
  • Excellent understanding of filmmaking, cinematography, composition, pacing, editing, and visual storytelling.
  • Strong understanding of animation principles including acting, performance, body mechanics, timing, and character movement.
  • Experience implementing content within a modern real-time game engine.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex implementation challenges.
  • Experience collaborating effectively across multiple disciplines within game development.


Technical Skills

  • Experience working with modern game engines;
  • Experience using visual scripting, node-based programming, gameplay schematics, or similar implementation workflows.
  • Familiarity with DCC packages such as Maya or MotionBuilder.
  • Working knowledge of source control systems such as Perforce.
  • Experience using Jira or similar production tracking software.
  • Comfortable partnering with engineers and technical artists to improve tools, workflows, and cinematic pipelines.
