The FC Gameplay Advanced Team strives to find meaningful innovation opportunities and turns them into back of the box features for the EA Sports FC franchise.  We work with creative designers, and engineers to deliver big ideas that will have a large impact on the biggest sports video game in the world.

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to help with designing, implementing, and managing the infrastructure and delivery pipelines that power our internal Machine Learning development and user facing features. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our systems while driving automation and efficiency across our development and operation teams.  

  • Your Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the engineering team to support internal machine learning development and user facing features.

    • Infrastructure Management:

      • Design and maintain infrastructure to host services on platforms like Azure, AWS or on-premise

      • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable Kubernetes clusters.

      • Provision cloud resources (e.g., compute instances, storage, networking), considering factors like scalability, availability, and cost-efficiency.

      • Configure environments (e.g., development, staging, production) to support seamless deployment

    • Automation

  • Automate repetitive tasks like builds, tests, deployments, and monitoring using CI/CD pipelines. (e.g. Gitlab CI/CD) 

  • Develop scripts or tools to manage infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform)

  • Containerization and Orchestration:

    • Manage and help developers to containerize applications using Docker

    • Orchestrate workloads with Kubernetes, Argo Workflow.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with developers to understand application requirements, design and implement service architecture, including API gateways, microservices, databases. 

    • Provide technical guidance to developers in designing solutions that meet performance and scalability goals

  • Security:

    • Ensure secure design by implementing best practices like IAM policies, managing secrets

    • Work with IT and Security teams to ensure compliance with EA security standards (e.g. firewall rules, vulnerability scans)

  • Performance and Scalability:

    • Optimize infrastructure costs by analyzing resource usage.

    • Improve system performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks.

  • Monitoring and Logging:

    • Implement robust monitoring systems

  • Continuously evaluate new technologies, tools, and processes to improve efficiency, security, and scalability across the DevOps ecosystem

  • Your Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience as a DevOps engineer or in a similar role

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

    • Proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) 

    • Deep understanding of containerization and orchestration tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes

    • Hands-on experience with version control systems such as GIT, Perforce

    • Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines

    • Experience with scripting languages, such as Python, Bash, PowerShell

    • Familiarity with Machine Learning related frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)

    • Familiarity with Machine Learning pipelines (MLflow, Kubeflow)

    • Understanding of Machine Learning life cycle

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar certifications.

    • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)

    • Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
    • $133,400 - $193,200 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
