We are looking for a Development Director to join the Frostbite Physics, Pathfinding and Machine Learning Team, working closely with our Frostbite Battlefield Portfolio and delivering to all games utilizing the engine. The Development Director role reports to the Director of Engine Development and maintains a dotted-line to the Group Development Director for alignment with broader operational goals and processes. As a Development Director, you will combine people and project management skills while leading multiple teams and initiatives.

Frostbite is EA's proprietary game engine that comes equipped with many tools and technologies designed to build incredible games. Our in-house engine offers the unique ability to adapt to each game while working hand-in-hand to prioritize what to build. Our goal is to empower creators all over the world to bring their best ideas to life by creating an engine that amplifies innovation across every discipline.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive planning and execution of multiple projects in close collaboration with the Director of Engine Development and Technical Director
  • Guide the team’s planning overall (i.e. initiative planning, planning for releases, iterations, sprints and roadmap)
  • Identify resourcing needs, manage resource allocation and forecasting 
  • Manage risks, understand the impact, and delineate urgency/severity
  • Manage change requests and dependencies, and collaborate with stakeholders 
  • Provide regular status reporting on progress
  • Develop and maintain KPIs that track project quality, delivery, and predictability
  • Build and maintain processes and efficiencies aligned with the Portfolio and Frostbite-wide guidance
  • Promote data-driven and agile development practices
  • Manage a team of 10-15 engineers, offering career, growth and performance coaching 
  • Collaborate with leadership to foster a creative, collaborative, and inclusive culture

 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years experience managing projects and programs in a distributed team environment
  • 3+ years experience working on game or game engine development
  • 3+ years experience managing software engineers
  • Experience in multiple project management methodologies including Agile
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a talent for promoting collaboration and value diversity and inclusion
  • Experience driving process improvements 
  • Experience in the Atlassian Suite (Jira, JAAS)
  • Experience managing multiple teams in parallel
