We are looking for a Director, Engine Development to lead the Frostbite Agentic Engineering, Data, and Documentation team. You will report to the Head of Engine Development for Frostbite Core Services. In the Frostbite Core Services team, we focus on empowering the Frostbite team and our game team partners to improve productivity, data-driven decision-making, and increase knowledge of Frostbite and its features.

The Frostbite Agentic Engineering, Data, and Documentation team consists of:

  • Software engineers focused on developing AI tools to empower wider usage of AI across Frostbite and EA while also improving the efficiency of the Frostbite team
  • Data analysts working across Frostbite to power data-driven decisions and processes
  • Data engineers who build the standardized data platform powering both AI and analytics
  • Technical writers who create documentation and training materials for Frostbite features


You will have an overall team size of about 30, supported by a Development Director and a Technical Director plus three additional manager reports. You will define the projects to be done in partnership with Frostbite leadership, ensure the projects are delivered, and develop the team. You will also lead the AI transformation of your team and participate in the overall Frostbite team's AI transformation.

This job requires a hybrid work schedule at a primary Frostbite development studio and includes regular meetings between Europe and North America.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the roadmap for your team in partnership with Frostbite and EA CTO leadership and contribute to the broader Frostbite AI roadmap
  • Deliver the feature roadmap while building the AI skills of your team
  • Lead Frostbite's data and analytics strategy to meet your team's goals and to power the needs of the full Frostbite team
  • Lead Frostbite's Documentation strategy for end-users and for AI to leverage
  • Lead collaborative efforts across teams of partners, building strong relationships, reaching agreements, and delivering together


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience leading software development projects
  • 3+ years of experience working with games, game engine development, or relevant experience
  • Experience leading a multi-discipline team of 15+ people including other managers
  • Experience leading teams through strategic planning activities, setting clear and measurable goals
  • Experience navigating a team through complex problems to meet the targeted outcomes
  • Experience identifying opportunities to improve the way a team works and driving process improvements across large teams
  • Demonstrated interest in AI and emerging technologies, with a passion for applying them to improve engineering productivity and team effectiveness.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$169,500 - $242,600 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
