Description & Requirements
We are looking for an Expert Analyst to lead one of our analytics and data science for this team, reporting to the Senior Director of Analytics. The ideal candidate will be versatile, proactive, and highly technical. They must have a strong analytical background, preferably in gaming or digital products, be capable of deriving actionable insights from massive volumes of data, and have experience directing the implementation of foundational data architecture that makes such work possible. Ideally, they will have prior experience leading high performing data teams, whether as a people leader or a project lead.
Your colleagues will be a tight-knit studio of enthusiastic industry craftspeople from all walks of life and a variety of different locations around the world. You’ll also join a group of experienced . analysts and data scientists as a member of the embedded-and-dedicated Data and Analytics (DnA) team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lay Foundations: Leverage knowledge of games analytics best practices to inform early data infrastructure, telemetry implementation, data technology, KPI development, and design decisions for that game.
- Analyze: Through data analysis, proactively find and advocate for new opportunities to improve the player experience, improve acquisition, engagement and monetization.
- Teach: Enable data democratization and education. Prioritize insights self-serve solutions. Teach power users how to use dashboards and access data. Help those who are less familiar understand the right questions to ask, and how they can better use data to inform their decision-making. Encourage all partners to adopt hypothesis-driven thinking.
- Model: Oversee the design, building, maintenance and evangelization of predictive models for player behavior
- Experiment: Serve as a go-to expert for quantitative methodology, implementation and application, including experiments such as A/B and multivariate tests, as well as other causal inference methods
- Drive Change: Help shape business decisions and product strategy through fact-based, data-driven insights and analysis; serve as a change agent in Maxis’s mission to become a data informed studio.
Required Experience
- 7+ years’ experience in quantitative analysis and “managing up” senior leaders, preferably for a gaming or digital products company
- Expert level SQL
- A strong foundation in math; deep statistical knowledge including an understanding of probability, correlation, regression, classification, and forecasting. Demonstrated experience with applications of machine learning.
- Experience using Python and/or R to conduct analysis and build models
- Experience with data visualization packages/libraries/software like R-Shiny, GGplot, Looker, Tableau etc
- Ability to translate business problems and constraints into analysis plans with clearly defined deliverables, timelines, and ownership
- Superb communication skills; ability to distill complex analytical topics into compelling presentations and data stories for non technical groups and executives
- A team-player who is able to maintain close collaborative partnerships with co-workers and other teams

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
