The Role

As a Game Designer I, you will work with Senior Designers, Producers and XD to create engaging experiences for Ultimate Team players.

You will own smaller features from concept through implementation and support larger features. Your work will help shape systems, progression, rewards, live content, and player experiences that drive engagement while maintaining the competitive integrity of Ultimate Team.

You are passionate about football, competitive multiplayer games, player progression, and live-service design. You bring a strong understanding of football culture and FC Ultimate Team.


Responsibilities

  • Design and own small features, improvements, and design problems within the Ultimate Team ecosystem.
  • Create clear design documentation and advocate for them to your leads.
  • Collaborate with producers and XD teams to bring features from concept through implementation.
  • Advocate for the player, and also understanding business, technical, and production needs.
  • Stay informed on football culture, industry trends, live-service games, and the competitive gaming landscape.


Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of professional game design experience.
  • Shipped game features, systems, content, or live-service experiences.
  • Owned small to medium features as a Game Designer from concept through implementation with guidance from senior team members.
  • Understanding of player motivation, progression, rewards, competition, and game systems design.
  • Comfortable using feedback, data, playtesting, and iteration to improve player experiences.
  • You are active in developing your design craft, and growing toward ownership of larger systems and features.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$77,700 - $107,900 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
