Our Motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero.

Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™. Currently, we're working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man™ action-adventure game and what's coming next for Battlefield™.

We believe in sharing our passion with our community and each other, fostering an inclusive culture, and nurturing a growth mindset. Although our approach may seem simple, it leads us to create the best work of our careers, bringing unique and immersive experiences to our players.

Motive is seeking a Lead AI Designer to oversee our Systems and AI team for an exciting new Battlefield project. In this role, you'll work closely with gameplay leadership to shape new Player Experiences for the game.

You'll manage a team of experienced Gameplay Designers, reporting directly to the Game Director.

Responsibilities:

  • You will manage and supervise a group of Game Designers.
  • You will supervise and inspire the team to develop unique gameplay moments.
  • You will provide mentorship and constructive feedback to enhance the team's design capabilities.
  • You will draft and guide the execution of design documents that align with the Creative Director's vision.
  • You will foster a collaborative environment by presenting designs, soliciting feedback, and building enthusiasm.
  • You will oversee the development of prototypes to explore and refine design concepts.
  • You will implement and refine features and content using in-house tools and visual scripting.
  • You will utilize qualitative and quantitative data (playtests, usability studies, analytics) to enhance designs.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of design experience in video games, with leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven track record in designing major gameplay systems on at least two shipped titles.
  • Expertise in drafting and executing design documents for features or content.
  • Hands-on experience with game engines for design implementation.
  • Deep knowledge of current trends in multiplayer and shooter games, with the ability to apply market insights.
  • Strong focus on enhancing the player experience.
