The Apex Legends team is looking for a Lead Technical Artist - Environments to help shape the ways we build worlds and assets. This role touches a wide variety of expertise including tools, procedural systems, asset construction, lighting and material systems, performance optimization, and landscapes. This is a forward-looking position focused on modernizing our worldbuilding pipelines, bringing new efficiency and capabilities to our art team and broadening the expertise of our Technical Art department.

What you’ll do:
Interpret high level creative direction for the Apex Legends franchise from the lens of worldbuilding and build technical solutions to hit our goals.
Assess current worldbuilding pipelines against future looking goals, establish a vision and roadmap, and then lead your team on execution.
Work closely with artists and engineers to deeply understand our proprietary technology and unique product requirements.
Ideally you’ll have:
12+ years of professional game development experience.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and multi-disciplinary projects.
A diverse range of experience working in multiple aspects of worldbuilding. For example, material systems, procedural tools, pipeline development, specialty DCC applications, performance and memory profiling and management, or lighting technologies.
Experience working in proprietary game engines and tools and an understanding of the technical constraints for shipping products on a wide variety of platforms and hardware capabilities.
Ability to break down complex problems and systems into manageable components, organize the people and the work, and communicate effectively.
A desire to be a service oriented leader, accommodating desired artistic workflows while maintaining technical standards and goals.
