UI Software Engineer will develop the technology, tools, and frameworks that form the user interface, and will work in a dynamic team to develop new features every year.  As a lead, you will report to a technical director, and guide other UI engineers on technical vision and execution, and support the design and building of components that bring our features to life.  Above all, we are looking for someone that is excited to use their talent and experience to deliver high-quality user interfaces in a AAA game.

 

You will work in a hybrid model, with 2 days at home and 3 days onsite at our studio in Burnaby.

 

Your responsibilities as an engineer:

  • Design new features or additions to existing features.

  • Work with designers to gather requirements and propose solutions.

  • Implement a feature's logic, game flows, and screens.

  • Collaborate with a large team of other engineers.

 

Your responsibilities as a lead:

  • Guide a team of internal and external UI engineers.

  • Establish and enforce best practices for UI development.

  • Drive the design and implementation of new technologies, features, and workflows.

  • Plan improvements for existing technologies, features, and workflows.

  • Monitor and enforce performance and associated metrics.

  • Collaborate with other engineering groups, artists, and designers.

  • Partner with project managers to scope and schedule engineering work.

  • Manage engineering recruitment, appraisals, and goal setting.

 

Your Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of C++ software development.

  • 1+ years of technical leadership experience.

  • Knowledge of data-driven and object-oriented design.

  • Knowledge of design patterns, such as MVVM.

  • Proficiency with debugging and profiling tools.

  • Experience with version control systems.

  • Experience architecting and implementing complex systems within a large codebase.

 

Bonuses:

  • Familiarity with scripting languages.

  • Experience with large-scale game engines (especially Frostbite).

  • Experience with cross platform and console development.

  • Experience shipping UI code for a AAA title.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$119,600 - $167,300 CAD

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
