Overview
This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting. The Technical Accounting Manager is a key member of the Global Finance organization and is responsible for researching, interpreting, and applying U.S. GAAP across the organization and is responsible for managing and consulting on our accounting policies. This role will support complex accounting areas, including business combinations, strategic investments, restructurings, and other transactions. The position requires strong technical accounting judgment, the ability to clearly communicate complex accounting matters, and close collaboration with cross functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting & Policy

  • Apply U.S. GAAP to complex and non-routine transactions (e.g., business combinations, investments, restructurings, financing arrangements) and prepare high-quality technical accounting memoranda supporting conclusions and judgment areas.
  • Own companywide accounting policies, including drafting and updates, stakeholder coordination, and assessment and implementation of new and emerging accounting standards.

Transactions & Strategic Initiatives

  • Provide technical accounting support for M&A and other strategic transactions, including purchase accounting, valuation coordination, and accounting analysis for complex transaction structures.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Corporate Development, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and external advisors to assess accounting implications and support post-transaction integration, including accounting policy alignment and opening balance sheet considerations.

Business Partnership & Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted technical accounting advisor to business partners by translating complex U.S. GAAP into clear, practical guidance, including review of significant contracts and arrangements (e.g., leases, and significant contracts).
  • Provide guidance and coordinate approval reviews for Internal Use Software projects.
  • Support accounting knowledge and capability across the organization by developing and delivering U.S. GAAP and accounting policy training, as needed.

Reporting & Controls Support

  • Support internal controls by documenting accounting conclusions, reviewing process changes, and assisting with control design related to new or evolving transactions.
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc technical accounting matters as they arise.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed CPA.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent.
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or industry.
  • Strong experience performing U.S. GAAP technical accounting research and drafting technical accounting memoranda.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new accounting areas, adapt to changing priorities, and operate effectively in an evolving and complex environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex accounting concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Pay Transparency - North America

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES
* California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) *$101,700 - $151,900 USD

In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
