We are seeking a Hard Surface Artist to join our Apex Legends team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality mechanical assets that support the gameplay and visual identity of the Apex universe, including weapons, vehicles, supply bins, and world props.

You will work closely with Art Direction, Hard Surface Leads, Technical Artists, cross-discipline partners, and external development teams to deliver visually compelling and technically sound assets that meet gameplay, performance, and production requirements. You will help drive successful content creation both internally and externally by supporting asset reviews, documentation, and production collaboration throughout development.

Our ideal candidate combines strong hard surface modeling skills with an understanding of real-time asset creation and a passion for building memorable gameplay-driven content. You are collaborative, adaptable, and committed to continuously improving both your craft and the quality of the game. You are comfortable collaborating with external development partners and helping guide content through review and integration pipelines while maintaining Apex quality standards.

What you'll do…

  • Create high-quality hard surface assets that meet artistic, gameplay, and technical requirements.
  • Translate concept art and design requirements into production-ready 3D assets for use in-game.
  • Model, texture, and author materials for weapons, vehicles, props, and other gameplay-related hard surface content.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of hard surface construction, form, function, topology, and material definition.
  • Create efficient UV layouts, texture sets, and asset structures that support visual quality and performance targets.
  • Collaborate with Art Direction and Leads to execute visual targets and maintain consistency across the game.
  • Work with Technical Art and Engineering to evaluate assets in engine, troubleshoot issues, and ensure assets perform as intended.
  • Accurately estimate tasks, communicate progress, and proactively identify production risks or challenges.
  • Help improve workflows and production processes by identifying opportunities for efficiency and quality improvements.
  • Participate in external development reviews, providing clear, actionable feedback to external partners and helping drive assets toward Apex quality standards.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of outsourcing documentation, asset briefs, reference packages, and production guidance that enable external partners to execute successfully.
  • Collaborate with Leads and Senior Artists to identify, communicate, and resolve asset quality, production, and workflow challenges with external partners.
  • Contribute to external partner evaluations through timely content reviews, quality assessments, and feedback on deliverables.
  • Participate in regular syncs, reviews, and production discussions with external partners and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals, priorities, and expectations.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging tools, and new technologies, helping the team adopt and evolve best practices.

Ideally, you will have…

  • 3+ years of experience as a 3D Artist with a focus on hard surface asset creation.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality hard surface work, including mechanical design, materials, and real-time game assets.
  • Strong understanding of hard surface modeling, topology, UVs, and PBR texturing workflows.
  • Experience creating game-ready assets for modern real-time rendering pipelines.
  • Understanding of materials, shaders, and how assets are constructed for real-time engines.
  • Experience working with technical constraints, optimization requirements, and engine integration.
  • Experience collaborating with Technical Art, Engineering, Design, and other cross-discipline partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience reviewing, integrating, or supporting outsourced content pipelines and external development partners.
  • Ability to communicate artistic and technical feedback clearly and constructively to both internal and external development teams.
