Acquired by EA in 2021, Playdemic is home to the top 10 grossing, BAFTA winning mobile smash – Golf Clash. After a comprehensive onboarding experience, you will have the opportunity to work as a Principal Game Designer on a globally successful game enjoyed by millions.

As a Principal Game designer within the Golf Clash team at Playdemic, you will be responsible for helping drive the design vision for the game, and facilitating design collaboration with Product, Production, Art, and other disciplines to drive complex feature designs and our Live Op roadmap.

You will be expected to guide the development of your peers in the design team, and hold frequent review sessions with them.  Once settled in the role, you will assist the design team and take an active level of ownership over both the feature and live operations roadmap. 

You will be expected to undertake all of the outlined tasks to a high quality level and to meet necessary timelines. To support these expectations, Playdemic will provide any mentoring and training required to perform your tasks. 

Responsibilities

 

  • Collaboratively drive ideation of features and systems with the product management team.
  • Oversee and assist in deploying Live Service plans, quarterly strategies, and content.
  • Aid guidance of feature development through complex features to align with design direction.
  • Establish benchmarks for high quality design communication throughout each stage of the product life cycle
  • Influence the design team and peers across disciplines to maintain creative vision.
  • Maintain design practices and quality, review design output with Game Design Director

Key Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Game Development studio.
  • Experience working on live games with a proven track record of creation and ownership of multiple complex game features, systems, and economies.
  • Experience driving and maintaining live operations roadmap, and optimising for KPIs.
  • Expert level experience of a variety of game databases and data structures.
  • Strong Excel experience, especially in relation to balancing game systems and economies.
  • Strong understanding of analytics, and how they can be articulated into design decisions.
  • Technical skills and knowledge of game development tools including Confluence and JIRA.
  • An ability to work independently within the design team, and aid mentoring junior to senior level designers.
  • Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with an ability to communicate design requirements across disciplines.
  • A strong work ethic to keep up with the demands of iterative design development.

Bonus Skills

  • Prior experience working in a Mobile Game Development Studio.
  • Experience supporting games, with a significant user base, through maintenance, new feature deployment and live operations.
  • Interest in mobile games, with an understanding of the free-to-play genre.
  • Educated to degree level in a game design related subject, or equivalent experience.


This is a hybrid role with mandatory on-site days.
