Quality Verification and Standards (QVS)

Our Quality Verification and Standards (QVS) team is an integral part of our development process, consistently delivering actionable insights that support our game teams to optimize software performance and elevate gameplay. Their dedicated efforts ensure that we deliver cutting-edge entertainment experiences that captivate and inspire players and fans globally. The Quality Engineering team at EA partners with Quality Verification and Game Development to improve quality through automation, workflow improvements, and scalable technical solutions. 


This Software Engineer Intern opportunity in Quality Engineering is designed as a practical learning experience in which the intern will contribute to The Sims 4 development while developing technical skills through day-to-day work. The intern will support Quality Verification and Game Development teams on automation and tooling initiatives for Expansion Pack development, always with guidance from the team and an assigned mentor.


The internship is intended to provide learning by doing through participation in real projects, exposure to development workflows, and ongoing feedback. The intern will report to the hiring manager and will receive structured support from an assigned mentor throughout the internship.

Role Summary

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will:

  • Support Quality Engineering initiatives for a specific The Sims 4 Expansion Pack during production.
  • Learn how automation and internal tools help improve quality and team efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Quality Verification and Game Development partners to understand workflow needs.
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of test automation and tooling solutions under guidance.
  • Help prepare automation coverage and technical support for production milestones.
  • Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and feedback sessions as part of your development experience.
  • Build practical skills in software engineering, quality engineering, and collaborative development in a game production environment.

Learning Objectives

During this internship, the selected candidate is expected to strengthen skills in:


  • Object-oriented programming with C#
  • Scripting and automation, including exposure to Python where relevant
  • Software quality practices, debugging, and test automation
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams in a game development environment
  • Development workflows such as version control, code review, and continuous integration

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and experience using C# in academic, personal, or project work.
  • Interest in software quality, automation, and tool development.
  • Foundation in core computer science topics such as data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to learn quickly, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively with a team.


Nice to have

  • Exposure to scripting languages such as Python

  • Familiarity with testing concepts, debugging, or automation projects

  • Interest in video game development, developer tools, or quality engineering
