Our Motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero.
Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™. Currently, we're working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man™ action-adventure game and what's coming next for Battlefield™.
We believe in sharing our passion with our community and each other, fostering an inclusive culture, and nurturing a growth mindset. Although our approach may seem simple, it leads us to create the best work of our careers, bringing unique and immersive experiences to our players.
Motive is looking for its next Senior Cinematic Animator to join our team of passionate creators. You will report to the Lead Animator and work on performance/motion capture and keyframe animations for Cinematic content. You will also have a key role in bringing our in-game narrative stories to life by working closely with the Directors, Lead, animators and cross discipline departments to create high-quality cinematic sequences that will have a high impact on the player experience.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Animator, your role will involve creating high-complexity and high-quality realistic character animations for in-game cinematics, ensuring they adhere to both the artistic vision and technical constraints. You will collaborate closely with the directors and your Lead to achieve the desired storytelling and performance, bringing characters to life with expressive and realistic animation to benchmark quality.
Mentoring junior and mid animators is also a key part of your role, as you provide guidance and support to foster a collaborative and growth-focused environment. Your technical proficiency with animation software such as Maya and Motion Builder, as well as game engines allows you to have a strong implementation knowledge and guides you to refine animations effectively. Finally, you are adept at identifying and solving both technical and creative issues to maintain the highest quality of animations.
You will be expected to work closely with the narrative, audio, vfx and technical teams to ensure animations support storytelling and qualitative objectives. Alongside the cinematic leadership team, you will contribute to planning out performance capture sessions, ensuring that assets are ready for shoot.
Expectations:
While delivering on target for visual benchmarks, you will be an advocate for production deadlines and will manage your efforts to achieve task completion within them.
You have strong communication skills and seek opportunities to mentor the team.
Your problem-solving mind helps identify and solve technical and creative issues to maintain the highest quality of animations.
You can work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction well.
You will work closely with integrators to facilitate implementation of the animation content and test the result in the game.
You will be collaborating and discussing artistic and technical challenges with colleagues as it offers cross discipline clarity and alignment.
You will be seeking feedback and direction on your work while also providing feedback to others.
You are an active contributor to the craft, promoting a collaborative learning culture within the team.
You have excellent attention to detail and possess a creative mindset.
Qualifications:
You have 10+ years of experience as a cinematic Animator for in-game content.
Expert in animation software such as Maya, Motion Builder, or similar tools.
Expert at performance capture polish and keyframe proficiency.
Strong understanding of character animation, timing, and storytelling.
Experience with motion capture data and techniques.
You have worked on at least one AAA game where you were intimately involved in creating narrative content such as cinematics or scripted events.
Having a good eye for camera language and framing is appreciated.
You have a broad understanding of technical workflows.
You show great collaboration and have experience in reaching out to the broader team for content alignment.
You put passion into everything you do and aim to improve our workflows and tools.
