Senior Manager, Generative AI Software Engineering

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Generative AI Software Engineering with a robust background in cloud computing, full-stack development, and scalable software architecture. This role focuses on the execution of Generative AI initiatives within our enterprise while supporting the strategic direction established by senior leadership. The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, hands-on engineering leader who can manage day-to-day operations, mentor a moderately sized team, and collaborate effectively across functions to deliver high-quality AI-driven applications.

This position is designed for experienced software engineers transitioning into management. Working within a dynamic, startup-like environment, you will support the broader AI ecosystem by ensuring that AI-powered solutions are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and integrate seamlessly with our existing technology platforms. This role reports to the Senior Director, Generative AI Software Engineering and collaborates closely with the Product Management team for Generative AI Solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI Product & Platform Execution:
    1. Support the design, development, and deployment of GenAI-driven applications such as AI-powered assistants and automation agents.
    2. Work closely with senior leaders to translate strategic objectives into actionable engineering tasks.
  • Technical Leadership & Team Management:
    1. Manage and mentor a team of AI engineers, data scientists, and software developers to ensure successful project delivery.
    2. Oversee day-to-day technical operations and enforce best practices in software development, DevOps, and CI/CD automation.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Integration:
    1. Coordinate with product, IT, UX, and business teams to identify high-impact AI use cases and ensure smooth integration of AI solutions within the enterprise ecosystem.
    2. Act as a liaison between engineering and product teams to align on project goals and priorities.
  • Cloud Infrastructure & AI Deployment:
    1. Assist in architecting and maintaining scalable, secure, and cost-efficient AI model deployments in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.
    2. Implement processes to monitor, secure, and optimize data pipelines supporting AI applications.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
    1. Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and integration of emerging AI technologies, ensuring that our AI solutions remain competitive and innovative.
    2. Promote a culture of agile development, continuous learning, and iterative improvement within the team.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    1. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience is also considered.
  • Software Engineering Experience:
    1. 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on building enterprise applications.
    2. At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or team management role.
  • Cloud Computing Expertise:
    1. Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), microservices, and serverless computing.
  • Full-Stack Development:
    1. Demonstrated experience with front-end frameworks (such as React, Angular, or Vue.js) and back-end technologies (such as Python, Java, C#, C++, Node.js, or Golang).
    2. Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, messaging systems, and modern web/mobile application development practices.
  • DevOps & Automation:
    1. Practical knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipeline tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • AI Exposure:
    1. Prior exposure to deploying AI applications is a plus. Experience with Generative AI technologies is desirable but not required.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    1. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
