Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

EA SPORTS is one of the most iconic brands in entertainment - connecting hundreds of millions around the world to the sports they love through a portfolio of industry-leading video games.

EA’s Character Animation Research Team (known as the A-Team) is a small team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. We are a cross-functional, applied R&D team, committed to advancing the field of Character Animation. Our technology is shared across multiple games in EA including FC, Madden, NHL, Battlefield, and more.

The Senior Software Engineer (Web Tools) will help build modern web and cloud based tools for digital content creation in the animation domain. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, animators, and UX designers to create powerful workflows that empower both artists and developers.

Our team develops and operates the web platform that provides access to billions of frames of real-world animation data captured from live matches. You’ll help transform this data into innovative workflows and tools that enable our artists to deliver unprecedented levels of authenticity and realism in video games.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and deliver features for our web-based tool suite, with a focus on writing code that’s clean, reliable, and easy to maintain.

  • Take ownership of meaningful parts of our technology stack, helping keep systems stable, performant, and healthy over time.

  • Work closely with teammates and game development partners to understand real problems and turn ideas into practical solutions.

  • Partner with UX designers to create intuitive, thoughtful experiences that support the animation community.

  • Research and adopt new technologies, frameworks, and workflows to improve how we build and evolve our platform.

  • Leverage generative AI tools to accelerate development, prototyping, and experimentation where it adds value.

  • Deploy and operate services on cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., Kubernetes) to support scalable and reliable development.

Your Qualifications:

Please note that you do not need to meet all qualifications to be considered. We encourage you to apply if you can meet most of the requirements and are comfortable opening a dialog to be considered.

  • Strong foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.

  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code using modern development practices.

  • Familiarity with development workflows such as Git, CI pipelines, and debugging.

  • Experience with front-end and/or back-end development, including APIs, databases, and cloud services.

  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, or Lit).

  • Some backend experience with Node.js, Express, or similar frameworks.
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and container tools like Docker or Kubernetes.

  • Experience or familiarity with real-time communication or data systems (WebSockets, GraphQL, gRPC, Kafka).

  • Experience with 3D visualization (Three.js, glTF) and skeletal animation, including basic 3D math concepts.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as D3.js.

  • Experience with additional languages (Python, C++, C#, Go, or Rust) is a plus.

Bonus:

  • A genuine interest in building high-quality tools that empower others.

  • Enjoys collaborating across disciplines and learning from teammates.

  • Curious mindset and commitment to continuous growth.

  • Passion for games and interactive experiences.
