Our Motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero.

Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™. Currently, we're working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man™ action-adventure game and what's coming next for Battlefield™.

We believe in sharing our passion with our community and each other, fostering an inclusive culture, and nurturing a growth mindset. Although our approach may seem simple, it leads us to create the best work of our careers, bringing unique and immersive experiences to our players.

Motive is looking for a Senior Technical Designer. You will report to the project Technical Design Director. You have a technical background and lead by example. You will support other designers, help problem solve, enhance their skills and foster a culture of innovation and excellence. You will help develop the tools and workflows required to deliver a great project as part of the Technical Design Team at Motive and across the wider project.

Responsibilities

  • You'll excel as a proactive problem solver and contributor, thriving within a collaborative team environment.
  • Support members of the design team by providing guidance on features and workflows; you are a principal point of escalation for designers and programmers.
  • Alongside the Technical Design Team, you will identify and lead the development of new design workflows and features.
  • You will maintain and own systems and features during production.
  • Ensure a high-quality release by bug fixing, reviewing scripts, performance optimisation, and creating a fun gameplay experience.
  • Help establish best practices for the Design Team.
  • Promote and build an inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Technical Designer or Designer within the games industry; Experience in technical design processes, content creation, engines, tools and pipelines is an advantage.
  • Experience of the full cycle of AAA game development is an advantage.
  • Visual scripting-languages experience.
  • Experience in cross disciplinary collaboration and bridging between creatives and engineers.
  • Well versed in modern game design trends and how they function.
  • Empathy for addressing the problems of others and a respect for their time and workloads.
  • Ability to receive and share constructive criticism.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
