Description & Requirements

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test to join our DICE Quality Engineering team, located in studios across Sweden, US, Canada, and Romania. In Bucharest, the team supports the latest Battlefield products.

Through close partnership with Game Developers and Quality Verification teams, Engineers aim to improve the player experience by delivering technical solutions that reduce testing time, enhance productivity and improve the quality verification and game development lifecycle.

As a SDET you will report to an Engineering Manager based in Bucharest while partnering with members from all DICE locations.

Expectations:

  • You will architect, and scale, reliable and maintainable test automation frameworks from scratch across Front End, World Levels, Backend and API layers.
  • You will establish the long-term technical vision for test automation tools, libraries, and infrastructure across the Quality Engineering department.
  • You will influence system architecture early on to promote "shift-left" testing methodologies, ensuring you bake testability into the design phase.
  • You will architect and improve the integration of automated test into CI/CD pipelines, maximizing build speed and reliable feedback loops.
  • You will lead non-functional testing strategies, including advanced performance engineering, load testing, security vulnerability scanning, and chaos engineering (stress testing).
  • You will establish the foundation allowing DICE test automation to evolve from a "Script-First" to an "AI-Native" approach.
  • You will develop adversarial testing frameworks to detect biases, edge cases, flaws in ML and Generative AI models employed within our CI infrastructure.
  • You will research and lead the development of “Self-Healing” auto-tests by injecting Generative AI into the runtime execution loop.
  • You will be the ultimate technical escalation point for critical automation failures, blocking pipeline issues, or production quality incidents.
  • You will partner with Engineering Managers, Solution Architects, and Product Owners to agree on organization goals delivery.
  • You will mentor mid-level Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)s and Test Designers, evolving their coding, framework design, and engineering skills.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Software Engineering, DevOps, or Software Development Engineer in Test role, with experience architecting automation frameworks from concept to production.
  • Proficiency in at least one object-oriented or functional language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Jenkins) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of complex, distributed cloud systems and identify structural integration risks.
  • Capability to explain technical quality risks to both technical developers and non-technical partners or product leaders.
