Description & Requirements

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

EA SPORTS is one of the most iconic brands in entertainment – connecting hundreds of millions around the world to the sports they love through a portfolio of industry-leading video games.

At the heart of EA SPORTS is the FC franchise. EA SPORTS FC is the world's #1 best-selling video game with over 200M engaged players across multiple platforms, including console, PC, and mobile. Innovation, passion, and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do. With studios in Vancouver, Bucharest, and Cologne, we're looking for the brightest talent, so we can continue to create experiences that connect with millions of hearts and minds the world over.

Ultimate Team is a mode within EA Sports FC that lets you build your dream squad, play matches to earn Coins, use the Transfer Market to buy and sell Player Items, and create your Ultimate Team to make your mark on the pitch. Behind the scenes, Ultimate Team is a live service with multiple platforms (console clients, PC, comp app, web app) working with online services to make the mode a success.

As a Commerce Client Software Engineer, you will report to the team's Development Director.  The Commerce team is an integral part of FC’s financial success! We ensure players receive the game content associated with their purchases on first party platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, EA App, Steam, Epic, and Luna. Our work is player-focused—we’re dedicated to delivering the content our players have paid for, every time.

As we continue to enhance our technology and expand to support new features, platforms, and console generations, we’re looking for a talented engineer to help drive our mission forward.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a wide range of partners—including first-party, global operations/release management, internal EA Commerce (back-end services, client libraries), server, tools, and QA teams —to deliver seamless game commerce experiences to players.

  • Design, implement, test, debug, and maintain robust C++ code for commerce-related game systems and features.

  • Architect, document, and communicate technical designs for commerce features and functionality.

  • Drive measurable improvements in engineering processes and best practices to hit quality, performance, and delivery targets.

  • Partner closely with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, design, production, QA) in a distributed, cross-functional environment.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, demonstrating engineering best practices

  • Advanced expertise in C++, with knowledge of performance optimization and modern development standards

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design and online services

  • Proven debugging and troubleshooting skills, including issues external to the codebase

  • Proficiency with XML and JSON data formats

  • Experience working with Visual Studio and source control systems

  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset

  • Experience navigating and maintaining legacy codebases, including risk assessment and mitigation

Your Preferred Experience:

  • Live games and/or commerce services

  • First-party configuration, tools, and SDKs

  • Platform-specific integrations and debugging
