The Data & Insights (D&I) Data Group develops a unified Big Data pipeline across all franchises at Electronic Arts. Our live service platform incorporates data collection, ingestion, processing, real-time streaming analytics, access, and visualisation - all built on a modern, cloud-based tech stack with modern tools. The Data Group provides the tools and platform that power the future of game development, marketing, sales, accounting, and customer experience.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the delivery of critical systems and services. You will collaborate across teams to build scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions and help shape engineering best practices.

You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager.


Responsibilities:

  • You will lead the design, development, and operation of complex, scalable systems and services with high reliability and performance requirements.
  • You will oversee major services, ensuring their long-term maintainability, scalability, and operational health.
  • You will drive system architecture and design discussions, influencing technical direction with different teams.
  • You will build large-scale data pipelines and real-time streaming systems using modern distributed technologies.
  • You will implement monitoring, alerting, and observability practices.
  • You will Identify technical debt, driving improvements in system quality, performance, and developer productivity.


Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating large-scale systems
  • Proficiency in Java
  • Experience designing and building scalable backend systems and APIs
  • Hands-on experience with data pipelines, real-time streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Storm), or large-scale data processing systems
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and distributed infrastructure
  • Understanding of system reliability, observability, and performance optimization techniques
  • Experience with database technologies (relational, NoSQL, or columnar) and data modelling at scale
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with CI/CD systems and modern software development practices


This is a hybrid remote/in-office role.


Pay Transparency - North America

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$141,400 - $204,400 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
