Cliffhanger Games is a newly formed Seattle Studio focusing on blockbuster action-adventure games and pioneering next-generation emergent storytelling beginning with Marvel’s Black Panther. Become a foundational part of an ambitious, respectful and diverse team as we are looking for a Studio Operations Director to join our team.

As the Studio Operations Director, you will report to the Studio GM, and lead the Studio Operations team. This is a vital leadership role focused on predictability, resourcing, risk management, cost monitoring, operational optimization, and collaboration.  As a part of the studio leadership team, you’ll leverage your highly developed relationship building acumen and operational skills to establish credibility amongst studio members and EA partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with studio leaders to support the studio vision, mission, and strategy, contributing to fostering overall studio culture & health with a focus on improving the operational aspects of game development, reporting, risk management, capacity planning, resource management and budget.
  • Oversees studio budget and opex.  Recommends improvements in operational efficiency within the studio to meet financial targets.  Partners with Finance to maintain a healthy P&L.
  • Oversees key projects that have a direct impact on game quality, predictability, efficiency and team commitment.
  • Supports the game teams with their needs, deadlines, important deliverables and risk management.
  • Engages in scenario planning to evaluate risk and opportunities, identify outcome and impact, and manage for both positive and negative possibilities.
  • Drives Objective and Key Results [OKRs] process for the studio
  • Produce reports based on recommendations and monitoring indicators.
  • Effectively communicates complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Oversees the Operations discipline, hiring, mentoring and inspiring teams through personal example and enthusiasm. Promoting the professional development of your direct team members.
  • Collaborates with our key partners on alignment and achievement of objectives (Finance, Human Resources, Recruiting, Quality Assurance, User Research, Analytics...).

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years' experience in game development leadership and operations.
  • Collaborative, empathetic self-starter who encourages and promotes diversity and inclusion.
  • Strategic thinker with an exceptional ability to manage risk, conflict, and constantly changing priorities.
  • Excels at communication, reporting and data analysis.
  • Expertise presenting high-impact plans and recommendations to executives.
  • Demonstratable analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to decipher complex multivariate problems

If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
    • $151,800 - $208,900 CAD
  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento)
    • $170,500 - $259,300 USD
  • Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs)
    • $180,100 - $237,200 USD
  • Jersey City, NJ
    • $202,600 - $259,300 USD
  • New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo)
    • $167,300 - $259,300 USD
  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane)
    • $167,300 - $238,500 USD

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
