Description & Requirements
EA SPORTS is one of the most iconic brands in sports & entertainment with nearly 30 years of innovation, passion, and connection of millions of players across the globe to their favourite sports, teams, and athletes. This is your opportunity to join this new team to shape the future of interactive entertainment and create the next great EA SPORTS game.
The Advanced Technology Group is part of the EA SPORTS Tech organization, focused on developing the latest game features and engine enhancements in close collaboration with game and engine dev teams. You will be part of a team tackling a variety of technical challenges beginning from proof of concept to implementation for titles across EA. An essential priority for this group is to partner with the Frostbite team, our Game teams, and our central art team to create meaningful user facing experiences and content workflow improvements. You will work on strategic, multi-year projects focused on our character technology for all EA SPORTS titles.
This team works 3 days/week onsite in our Burnaby studio.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Technical Artist - Game Engine, your mission is to design, and implement efficient, high-quality content production workflows, technologies, and visuals for our SPORTS Shared Initiatives, working on the frontier of content creation. As a contributor, you are an expert in the Technical Art field, with main responsibilities including developing content workflows and solutions in game engine, systems, optimizations, integrations with other production systems, and scripting game engine tools.
Technical Artists are expected to have ownership over assigned areas - understanding requirements, developing solutions or prototypes, and resolving any technical issues that arise during development. You will partner with other Technical Artists and Artists on the team, as well as collaborate with the game teams and other Sports Tech central teams. You can be from an Art, Design, Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science background; however, you must demonstrate a comfort level in working with both art and science.

* A solutions provider, especially as it pertains to developing techniques to meet quality targets within technical constraints.
* Experience with asset optimization challenges/techniques, especially in game engines.
* A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems; the ability to think creatively to resolve technical challenges and limitations.
* A Passion for Games!
