Technical Artist - Tech


Location: Hybrid (Shanghai, China)

Reports to: Technical Director

As a Technical Artist, you are an essential part of the game development process. You'll work with a passionate team that is committed to pushing boundaries. You'll gain hands-on experience with EA’s proprietary Frostbite Engine, contributing to modern technologies and feature development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop tools to support daily workflows for artists.
  • Customize and maintain engine features and art toolchains based on project requirements.
  • Improve asset pipeline development and define how EA’s internal game engine supports high-quality content creation through pipelines and toolchains.
  • Define standards for content creation, including data structures, naming conventions, and technical specifications.
  • Work with engineers, artists to establish workflows and metrics for performance.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and creative development environment.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the game industry.
  • Shipped at least one title using Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Proficient in major 3D art toolchains; experienced in 3D modeling, level assembly, and node-based scripting systems (e.g., Blueprints, Material Editor).
  • Debugging and performance optimization skills, with hands-on experience using profiling and diagnostic tools.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, C#, or Lua.
  • Experience of shader programming (HLSL/GLSL) with understanding of real-time rendering fundamentals.
  • Passion for games and interests in the latest trends in rendering and optimization technologies.
  • Experience with C++ development is a plus.
