Role Overview

The ideal candidate for the Technical UI Designer position at Electronic Arts is a collaborative, detail-oriented professional with a passion for creating high-quality, accessible user interfaces in games. You thrive in multidisciplinary teams, excel at bridging creative vision with technical execution, and are motivated by the opportunity to impact millions of players worldwide. You are comfortable taking ownership of features from concept to ship, iterating based on feedback, and championing best practices throughout the production cycle.
 
Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience implementing in-game UI features, including screens, widgets, logic, and data flows, in a professional game development environment
  • Strong technical and logical problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering polished, AAA-quality UI features on time
  • Proficiency in rapid prototyping to test and iterate on UI concepts independently, from ideation through implementation
  • Deep understanding of UI/UX design principles, including typography, layout, motion, and visual fidelity
  • Commitment to accessibility and inclusive design, with a passion for creating player experiences that are usable by all
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain and refine features throughout the production cycle
  • Collaborative mindset with proven ability to work effectively with engineers, scripters, UX designers, UI artists, producers, and directors
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to document features, participate in design and code reviews, and advocate for best practices
  • Adaptable and open to feedback, with a willingness to learn and grow within a highly experienced team
     

Experience  

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in game development, working within game engines on AA or AAA titles
  • Hands-on experience shipping at least one feature or UI component in a released game, with ownership from implementation to delivery
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines (gameplay, engineering, design, art) to deliver high-quality UI features
     

Education

  • No specific degree or certification required; candidates from diverse educational backgrounds are encouraged to apply
     

Preferred/Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with additional UI systems such as UMG, Unity UI, Flash, ImGui, WPF, or Qt
  • Experience working with proprietary tech stacks or influencing UI frameworks within a large-scale project
     


Soft Skills

  • Highly collaborative and inclusive attitude, with the ability to listen, learn, and adapt in a fast-paced, creative environment
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with experience estimating and managing work in partnership with producers and directors
  • Passion for games and a desire to contribute to the long-term success of the Battlefield universe
