Description & Requirements

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

User-generated content (UGX) is changing the gaming industry by providing players with the opportunity to create, share, and engage with personalized content in their preferred games.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to join our team, with a focus on creating high-quality technical documentation and designing intuitive web page layouts. You will collaborate across teams—spanning central technology groups, game teams and more to create a repository of content used to guide teams at EA on their UGX endeavors.

As a Technical Writer for UGX you will also design and organize the structure and wireframe of the team’s web pages, ensuring seamless navigation and an informative user experience. By working with team members, you will create a user-friendly interface that guides visitors seamlessly through content, enhancing the user experience. And by applying your expertise in content management systems and web design, you'll help deliver a unified, engaging digital experience for both teams creating player facing features and internal systems for games to build upon.

You will report to the Executive Producer, UGX and work side-by-side with the development team.

Location: Vancouver, this is a remote or hybrid role.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members, including game team and internal tech teams spanning both technical and non technical roles, and other subject matter experts to create high-quality documentation including strategy overviews, implementation guides, and tech overviews.

  • Design the team’s web pages, create wireframes, and ensure the layout is intuitive, easy to navigate, and effectively communicates important information.

  • Consolidate documentation from multiple content sources into a cohesive, discoverable user experience.

  • Ensure documentation meets the needs of the full range of stakeholder and customer personas.

  • Provide regular updates to your manager on project status.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of technical writing experience for software products and web services.

  • Experience working in a collaborative, Agile development environment.

  • Experience with information architecture, creating content models, and web page layout, including wire-frames.

  • Experience using a content management system (CMS) or similar knowledge management systems to create documentation.

  • Experience planning, creating and organizing user-centric technical documentation.

  • Experience working with and documenting REST APIs.

  • Experience working with remote teams.

  • Familiarity with user-generated content concepts in video games is a bonus.
