Description & Requirements

We are a global team of creators, storytellers, technologists, experience originators, innovators and so much more. We believe amazing games and experiences start with teams as diverse as the players and communities we serve. At Electronic Arts, the only limit is your imagination.

Cliffhanger Games is a newly formed Seattle Studio focusing on blockbuster action-adventure games and pioneering next-generation emergent storytelling beginning with Marvel’s Black Panther. Join us to pursue your passion to build unique groundbreaking, and inclusive games that empower players to create incredible stories of heroic adventure. Become a foundational part of an ambitious, respectful, and diverse team as we are looking for a Senior UI Artist to join our team.

Reporting to the UI/UX Experience Design Director, you will help visualize and craft interfaces for our game, delighting the player, directing focus on the information hierarchy, and setting the stage for the player’s experience. As such, you have a strong artistic vision, an understanding of graphic and motion design, and the technical proficiency to bring your vision into the game. As a UI Artist, you will work with the Principal Art Director, UI/UX Design Director, Gameplay Designers, UI Engineers, and Technical Artists, to create visually stunning and immersive interfaces that enhance the player experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create and mock up visual designs for game UI based off the established design specifications.
  • Create and mock up motion studies of game UI that reflect the anticipated behaviors of motion graphics and controls in the UI.
  • Create prototypes in Figma or similar tools that can be used for User Research studies or design proof-of-concepts.
  • Iterate with User Research teams to ensure consumer feedback is applied and accessibility goals and metrics are supported.
  • Research and study appropriate visual reference to ensure visual designs feel authentic to the world we are creating.
  • Follow up in Unreal after Engineers and Tech Artists to do in-engine visual passes that bring the graphics up to the high artistic bar.
  • Author in-engine animations for elements in the game to bring life to the UI, enhance the player experience, and add clarity to the functionality of objects.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in UI authoring technology, improving your skills.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience as a UI artist in the video game industry.
  • Strong Visual and graphic design skills.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard software and tools, such as Unreal Engine, Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, Figma, or similar.

We encourage you to apply, even if you don't match every qualification listed above. Let us know why this role appeals to you, why you will be great, what unique perspectives you will bring, and which requirements will challenge you to grow.
