We are looking for a Development Director to join the Frostbite Audio and Movie team. We are Frostbite Frostbite is EA’s proprietary game engine that comes equipped with tons of tools and technologies designed to build incredible games. Our in-house engine offers the unique ability to adapt to each game while working hand-in-hand to prioritize what to build. Our goal is to empower creators all over the world to bring their best ideas to life by creating an engine that amplifies innovation across every discipline.

You will join a versatile team driving innovation in Audio and Movie technologies within Frostbite. You will work with domain experts that are passionate about developing the very best audio and movie tools and runtime technologies within the games industry.

The Development Director Role reports to a Sr Engineering Manager in Frostbite, as a Development Director you will combine people and project management skills while leading multiple teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Hire, motivate, and manage engineers from multiple teams within Audio and Movie

  • Grow engineers’ careers by coaching, mentoring, providing feedback and finding opportunities

  • Oversee team deliveries, including managing risks, dependencies, and critical paths.

  • Lead and implement change management programs within the team. Foster the team's adoption and acceptance of changes.

  • Scenario planning to guide the decision-making process.

  • Be accountable for and improve your team’s code quality, productivity, and team health by promoting Frostbite standards and implementing software development best practices

  • Foster a culture of diversity to empower teams by encouraging an inclusive environment where all opinions are heard

  • Collaborate with Engineers on the team, Technical Leads, Product Owners, and other Engineering Managers across multiple locations


Qualifications

  • You have 3+ years of project management or team leadership experience in software development

  • You have experience managing software engineers as direct reports

  • You have experience in project planning, capacity planning, dependency and risk management including mitigation techniques.

  • You have a professional background in software development


Bonus

  • Experience with game development and/or real-time C++ application development

  • Experience with modern computer graphics, APIs and techniques

  • You are knowledgeable about CI/CD and software testing methodologies.

  • Experience working with distributed teams

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
    • $115,100 - $161,200 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
