Our Motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero.

Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™. Currently, we're working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man™ action-adventure game and what's coming next for Battlefield™.

We believe in sharing our passion with our community and each other, fostering an inclusive culture, and nurturing a growth mindset. Although our approach may seem simple, it leads us to create the best work of our careers, bringing unique and immersive experiences to our players.

Motive is looking for a UX Designer to join the Experience Design team working on the Iron Man project. Reporting to the Experience Design Director and being part of a diverse team of Experience Designers specialized in UX, UI and Integration, you will have a direct impact on player-facing user experience. You will represent the end-users at the table and focus on every aspect that affects their experience: from removing friction and frustration, to making sure the game mechanics are understandable.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems and approaches them with systemic thinking, understanding of player motivations, and empathy. We're a group of dedicated people where talent, passion, and collaboration are celebrated.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design of intuitive player flows, interaction patterns and states.
  • Craft diverse UX artifacts (experience maps, flows, wireframes, prototypes, documentation) to guide development and research.
  • Partner with extended team members (Game design, Art, User Research) and other User Experience Designers (specialized in UX, UI or Integration) to set priorities and find balanced design solutions to player and business goals within technical constraints.
  • Contribute to designing solutions rooted in player data.
  • Contribute to creative efforts that uncover new value with new kinds of experiences.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a user experience designer in the game industry.
  • A portfolio of projects and games that have been worked on.
  • Knowledge of usability principles and techniques, interaction design and design patterns in video games.
  • Practical knowledge of design tools such as Figma, etc.
  • A general awareness of current design and art trends.
  • Expresses clear design rationale and thinking behind their design solutions.
  • A strong interest in playing video games regularly!
  • The ability to translate qualitative and quantitative player data into design solutions and design strategy would be an asset.
