Description & Requirements

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

A new team of industry veterans are building an original—narrative-rich, visually distinctive, and expansive by design, living franchise. As Senior Art Director, you’ll define and shape the visual identity of this universe from the ground up. Your work will help set the tone for everything to come—across gameplay, story, and potentially beyond.

We’re looking for a visionary who thrives on hands-on creation and can help lead a team in crafting genre-defining art. Someone fluent in storytelling through silhouette and design. Someone who’s inspired by mythology, streetwear, sci-fi, fantasy, and cultural fusion—and who knows how to bring all those influences together into something unforgettable. We’re not just looking for a director—we’re looking for a co-creator. Someone ready to help shape a franchise that’s built to endure. This is a chance to leave a creative mark on something original, ambitious, and designed for cultural relevance.

This role sits at the heart of a new creative venture. If you’ve helped shape an IP before, or if you’ve always wanted to define the next one—this is your moment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the visual direction for a new universe: its people, its places, its culture, its myths.[1] [2]
  • Design a cast of diverse, story-rich characters and environments that balance originality with broad emotional resonance.
  • Collaborate deeply with narrative and gameplay teams to ensure the world you’re building makes sense across lore, mechanics, and moments.
  • Work hands-on as a concept artist and designer, setting benchmarks and contributing directly to key art, mood pieces, and visual guides.
  • Mentor and inspire fellow artists, sharing your craft and helping others elevate theirs through feedback, vision, and coaching.
  • Collaborate with 2D, 3D and technical art teams to ensure concepts transition fluidly into production, while retaining style and spirit.
  • Represent the visual voice of the project in creative reviews, stakeholder updates, and executive pitches.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of art experience, including work on AAA games or franchise IPs with strong stylistic identity.
  • Proven experience creating and evolving original IP, especially stylized or character-driven universes.
  • A distinct personal art style that demonstrates taste, innovation, and world-building range.
  • Mastery of character design, including cultural references, visual storytelling, and attitude through silhouette.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead creative teams while remaining a hands-on contributor.
  • Proven experience leading and collaborating with a geographically distributed team.
  • Strong collaborative instincts, with the ability to partner cross-functionally across narrative, gameplay, brand, and technical disciplines.
  • Experience with or passion for IP storytelling across media—comics, animation, merchandise, or film is a plus.
  • A strong, diverse portfolio that showcases process and outcomes.
