We are seeking an adept delivery and people manager with a profound enthusiasm for the technology driving our games. The Development Director, emphasizing people, process, and planning, plays a central role in maintaining cohesion of our teams.

This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. You will be reporting to the Director of Engine Development responsible for the Frostbite Gameplay team. You will collaborate with them and the Technical Director in overseeing this team.

Responsibilities

  • Project & Process Management

    • Lead Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog refinement) and enhance Agile development practices within the team.

    • Oversee team deliveries, including managing risks, dependencies, and critical paths.

    • Coordinate tasks across diverse internal and external teams, spanning multiple locations, time zones, and cultures.

    • Improve operational effectiveness of team effort by assessing current practices, incorporating new strategies, and increasing predictability.

  • People & Team Management

    • Directly manage team members by providing regular feedback to individuals and aligning career goals with their work.

    • Partner with the other team leaders to create a creative, collaborative, diverse and inclusive environment, promoting a culture of learning and success.

    • Identify and address personnel conflicts, encouraging a positive team dynamic.

  • Change Management

    • Lead and implement change management projects within the team. Foster the team's adoption and acceptance of changes.

Qualifications

  • You have 5+ years of software project management and team leadership experience.

  • You have 3+ years of experience using Agile project management methodology.

  • You are experienced in project planning, capacity planning, dependency and risk management including mitigation techniques.

  • You are experienced in building and managing high-performing software development teams.

  • You enjoy helping individuals grow through coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) * $133,400 - $193,200 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
