Mako Mobile is an EA SPORTS unit responsible for the development and worldwide live operations of NBA Live Mobile and Madden Mobile. Do you love sports and wish you had the opportunity to make sports games on mobile look great for everyone to experience? We are looking for an Associate Experience Designer to join an established team of XDs on our Mobile Sports products. This candidate will work directly with artists, game designers, and engineers to create beautiful consumer-facing visual designs for in-game use, advertising, and elsewhere, maintaining authenticity and integrity with in-game vision and design as necessary.


As an Associate Experience Designer, you will work collaboratively with the Experience Design Director, Art Director, UX designers, artists, and engineers in diverse feature and live service teams. You will use your creativity, passion, and knowledge of visual design to develop engaging and leading-edge visual design content, solve complex problems, and build amazing experiences for our players.


Your Responsibilities

  • You will work closely with the Art Director, producer, and art members to brainstorm live content art concepts, in-game brands, and style kits
  • You will provide multiple, fresh layouts or design iterations that are informed by creative test results and appeal to our individual products’ target audience – whilst being sensitive to existing art and design styles that are inherent to our individual products
  • Accomplish projects within deadline-driven timelines  
  • Create assets using traditional graphic design principles with an emphasis on 3D, photo bashing, and paint-over techniques
  • Execute projects with attention to detail
  • You will help define the visual tone of the UI and ensure alignment with the overall art direction of the product.
  • You will work closely with the Experience Design Director to develop UI Screens and maintain the design system. Help to ensure that players can enjoy a consistent and immersive gaming experience while navigating the game's interface. Align with the product's experience goals, usability/accessibility standards, and brand.


Your Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant experience and/or a degree in an art or design-related field
  • Strong graphic/visual design skills, including screen layout, composition, typography, color theory, illustration, and iconography
  • Strong background in traditional/fundamental art principles including composition, lighting, and visual hierarchy
  • Experience working with multiple stylistic approaches
  • Is a valuable contributor in all stages of creative production: from brainstorming and concepting to executing and delivering first-class assets


Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.    
  • Experience with color, composition, and typography  
  • Working knowledge of Figma or similar design software
  • Illustration and concept art experience
  • Photo bash and Paint over experience
  •  Ability to create eye-catching, engaging, visual designs for game-related marketing campaigns
  •  The ability to handle multiple tasks at once as part of a fast-paced, deadline-driven creative team   
  • Positive attitude with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  •  Excellent organizational and communication skills

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). 

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$72,300 - $99,800 CAD

 In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
